Level Up with Nancy Gerdel

Level Up

Level Up!

“ IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND HAVE DEDICATION AND PRIDE AND YOU NEVER QUIT, YOU’LL BE A WINNER. THE PRIDE OF VICTORY IS HIGH BUT SO ARE THE REWARDS.”

Through the years, Nancy Gerdel, 40, has been stepping up her fitness and now feels the strongest she’s ever felt. So let’s all level up.

A Journey to Self-Improvement

Never a super-active kid, it was during her last year of university that Nancy Gerdel realized she needed to focus on herself and get healthy. “I was uncomfortable with my body and did not feel well,” says the Calgary-based mom of two. She spent a few years switching things up, at times working with personal trainers while doing her own thing at other times.

The turning point for Nancy came in 2015. “I was eager to take my fitness to a new level. My first focus was to build muscle and strength,” she says. She met the owners of the Canadian Center for Strength and Conditioning, Andre and Susan Benoit, and was hooked on her new fitness regimen. Then, two years later, she decided to take it a step further and step on the stage, andinJanuary2018 she began focusing on more intense training as a personal challenge both mentally and physically.

Family Support and Inspiration

With a supportive husband and daughters, she has workout partners and helps with household chores she needs to maintain her demanding schedule. But it’s all reciprocal: “Seeing my daughters’ determination and strength in their activities pushes me to be a better person each and every day and ensures am   a good role model   for my girls.”

Transformed Physically and Mentally

And how has levelling up her fitness changed her life? “Since  I focused on taking king care of me, it has been amazing and the best I’ve ever felt physically and mentally. We are thrown challenges daily, but how you face and overcome those obstacles is how you look and perceive life.”
