Comeback kid: When my marriage fell apart and I moved back to Kansas, closer to my hometown. My son always remained a priority and I wanted so badly to provide him with a better life. I enrolled in university for computer science and three-and-a-half years later I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was recruited by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. That was by far the most difficult period of my life, but at the same time, the most rewarding.
Fear of fear itself:  I would say I’m cautious in every single thing I do! And tough–so people know not to mess with me! Small-town roots: Born and raised in Kansas on a farm, I had cows, and pigs, helped with irrigation and loved nothing more than riding on a tractor with my grandpa or my dad!

Sibling love: At the age of eight, my brother was born as a blue baby. He was later diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome. Watching him fight for his life and be happy to live every day on this earth helped me be thankful for my health and every day we have here. I watched him and our family support him through 27 surgeries at Sick Kids Hospital, including three open-heart surgeries.
Family ties: I’m most proud of my beautiful family and happiest when I’m with them.
Just because: The last time I cried was when my husband sent me flowers to the office just because he loves me

Independent woman: Working in downtown Toronto and seeing a homeless woman made me wonder what her story was and how did she end up here? It made me realize that I had to set myself up for independence. I went back to night school at Ryerson and got my Business Admin Diploma and continued updating my skills ensuring I was marketable during my working career.
Fitness foray: I was never an athletic type of person but at age 55 decided it was time to get healthier. I changed my eating habits and started attending fitness classes.
Sisterly love: When I’m with my sisters, we laugh a lot and sometimes cry together–they are my rock!

Helping others: My dad was an attorney who ran his own law office, and he helped a ton of people for free. Growing up, I didn’t fully understand the enormity of what he was doing, but as an adult, I understand it all too well and I’m convinced that what he did throughout his career is what helped shape me as a person. I became a teacher, a school counselor, and now a fitness professional.
Happiness is: Helping people and when I can work on my own strength.
The true me: I am an introvert at heart.
